  • Fit tractors with 4-cylinder gas Continental engine
  • Some applications require removal of distributor to install.
  Do not spin drive before installing
  • Before installing your new starter, make sure the below conditions are first checked and satisfied (warranty void if broken.)
    • The (main) reasons a starter nose will break:
      • Bent armature shaft
      • Ignition timing is incorrect
      • Improper drive to ring gear clearance
      • Defective distributor cap / wires causing the engine to kick back
  • If you are not sure which starter your Continental engine uses, check the flywheel ring gear location on the flywheel:
    • If the ring gear is toward the front of the engine when mounted on the flywheel, you have a Lucas; order starter MFS069.
    • If the ring gear is toward the transmission when mounted on the flywheel, you have a DELCO; order starter MFS135.
